SPRINGFONTEIN WINES
Nature has provided a natural spring in the limestone slopes of this estate, providing irrigation for the vineyards and the inspiration for the name of the award winning wine produced here.
Nestled between a lagoon and the sea shores of Walker Bay, Springfontein is a nature lover’s paradise and with the coaxing and experience of winemaker Christo Versfeld and vineyard manager Andre du Toit, produces multi award winning wines.
The philosophy in the vineyards and the cellar is to allow nature to bestow the special characteristics of this unique terroir (similar to the soils and conditions in Champagne and a certain part of Burgundy) on the wines and to assist through rigid quality controls including hand sorting of the grapes.
The result is two highly acclaimed flagship single vineyard wines and two other ranges of Estate Wines.
A visit to the estate should include time for exploring, walking, bird watching and relaxing.
