JEAN DANEEL WINES

Jean Daneel established himself in Napier in 2004. The move to Napier was motivated by the more moderate prevailing temperature influenced by L’Agulhas, the most southern point of Africa, just 50 km away. He built a small boutique cellar and planted four cultivars, Chenin, Sauvignon, Merlot and Shiraz. The Daneels feel like pioneers in the valley and are enjoying the challenges that this new area gives them. Jean is well known for his wood matured Chenin Blanc and has won the Wine Magazine Chenin Challenge three times.

The couple have also established their own restaurant, Reneessance in the main road. The old shed/horse stable behind the restaurant was recently renovated into a deli and the Jean Daneel tasting room.Jean Daneel Wines established themselves in Napier in 2004.
