IONA WINES
The coolest vineyard site in the country is also one of the most spectacular, situated at 420m above sealevel, at the end of a scenic gravel road, it offers a magnificent view of the whole of the Elgin bowl. Excellence starts in the vineyard and the long, slow ripening of the grapes produce exceptional flavours and balanced acids, the beginning of the all-important quality quest at Iona.
Owner Andrew Gunn and winemaker John Seccombe believe in personally welcoming visitors to the estate after their “pilgrimage” up the mountain and take pride in offering wines that reflect the temperatures, sunshine, rain and wind of each growing season. Consumers are assured of consistent quality and "one vintage is not better than another, they just reflect the uniqueness of each growing season" is Andrew’s comment.
