The vineyards are situated only 3km from the Atlantic Ocean with majestic sunset views over the Botriver lagoon. The cooling effect of the cold Benguela current, the calcium / lime rich, well weathered shale
clay soils, and soft ripening conditions create a unique terroir for the production of premium wines. Every Benguela Cove Sauvignon Blanc vintage (2007 – 2009) has received 4 stars in the Platter Wine guide and the 2007 received a gold award at the Swiss International Airline wine show in 2008 – one of only two Sauvignons in South Africa to receive such an award. The 2007 Shiraz was the editor’s choice in the 2009 Wine Shiraz Challenge and the 2008 Shiraz was judged the best
cool climate Shiraz in the 2010 Wine Magazine Challenge – voted one of the top three Shiraz wines in SA. Under the expert guidance of Agric Estate Manager, Schalk du Toit, the estate will focus on two main cultivars, Sauvignon Blanc and Shiraz.
