BENGUELA COVE RESIDENTIAL WINE ESTATE
Set only 3km from the Atlantic Ocean with majestic sunset views over the Botriver lagoon, Benguela Cove enjoys the cooling effect of the cold Benguela Ocean current, the calcium/lime rich, well weathered shale clay soils, and soft ripening conditions creating a unique
terroir for the production of premium wines.
Both vintages (2007 & 2008) of the Benguela Cove Sauvignon Blanc have received 4 stars in the Platter Wine guide and the 2007 received a gold award at the Swiss International Airline wine show in 2008 – one of only two Sauvignons in South Africa to receive such an award. The 2007 Shiraz was one of four wines selected from 247 entries for the Editor’s choice in the 2009 Wine Shiraz Challenge. Under the expert guidance of Agric Estate Manager, Schalk du Toit, the estate will focus on two main cultivars, Sauvignon Blanc and Shiraz. Small parcels of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Cabernet blends will also be produced.
