THE BURGUNDY
The new look Burgundy Restaurant on the seafront in Hermanus has a warm, welcoming and unpretentious atmosphere and simply excellent hand crafted food. Set in the oldest building in the historical heart of the village it also offers the best vantage point for people and whale spotting.
This is also where the first wine tasting room in the region was built by Tim Hamilton Russell in 1985 and thus, is the origin of the Hermanus Wine Route. Seductive aromas of bread baking in the kitchen bakery and roasted coffee beans blend with salt sea air rising from the Old Harbour just a stones throw away. The views are spectacular and diners
can expect to have their meal interrupted by breaching whales in season.
The menu reflects seasonal produce from the region, line fish caught along the local coast and the chefs Free State passion for quality meat prepared from traditional, tried-and-true recipes.
The sophisticated and sassy interior décore has transformed the traditional fishermans cottage into a sensual, classical and welcoming cosmopolitan space with intimate, relaxing and private function options.
The personal touch of owners Rayno and Celia Rabie and chef de patron Rudolf van der Berg is found everywhere and pervades the Burgundy with friendly, efficient service. The ideal place to meet, relax, see and be seen, whether at leisure or for business.
